The most popular means of transport in New York is the yellow cab. You can hail them everywhere. A cheaper way to get around is the Subway with 26 lines and 468 stations. The lines are signed by a letter or by a number. The Subway can go uptown, downtown, eastside or westside. There are local trains which stop at every station and there are express trains which don’t stop at every station. Another possibility to visit the city is the Bus, which is always signed by a letter and a number. For both means of transport, you can buy a one-way-ticket, a day-ticket, a ticket for a week, a ticket for 2 weeks or a ticket for 1 month. You have to charge the tickets on your Metro card which you can buy at every vending machine. The Path Train is also a subway which connects New Jersey with Manhattan. It consists of 3 lines which are red, yellow and green and which stop at 13 stations. There are also 2 Railways in New York. They are called Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad.

In the middle of the borough Manhattan you can find the one-of-a-kind, in 1960 founded artists quarter SoHo.

SoHo, the short form of South of Houston Street, is an individual, famous scene quarter in New York with an accrual of cast iron warehouses and factories. Habitants and tourists appreciate eminently the diversity of fashion label head quarters like Chanel or Prada and works of art. During strolling through the streets of SoHo you can find a lot of cafés, galleries, antiques stores and restaurants. Due to the living of many artists and designers in this nice part of Manhattan, you will see a lot of fashion-boutiques and museums like the branch of the Guggenheim Museum, the New Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of African Art.

If you want to get to know the habitants of this district you have to visit The Cage. You will find every amateur-hoopster chucking the ball over the playing field. This part of New York has a lot of hotels.

Do not allow to miss that special kind of living in the world of artists, designers and athletes with all its characteristics…

Manhattan – New York City

Manhattan, the nowadays centre of New York, lying on an isle, is one of the five boroughs of New York City in addition to Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island and connected with the mainland through bridges and tunnels.

Although Manhattan is the smallest borough of New York, with its length of nearly to 14 Miles (22 km) and breath of 2.3 Miles at its widest, it has a lot to offer. New York’s Manhattan is a very popular tourist destination. Life is pulsative with 1.7 million habitants and about thousands of tourists daily!

Manhattan is known for its travel-chaos, the spirited taxi-drivers, for its overcrowded foot-walks, polices on horses, the richest and poorest people face to face, the amazing inimitable architecture and buildings, the museums, hotels, restaurants and last but not least its shopping opportunities for every moneybag.

Marvel to the Brooklyn Bridge, the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building or the Broadway with its amazing musicals, show-stages and opera-houses and enjoy yourself in the one-of-a-kind appreciated Central Park. The most famous Neighborhoods are Harlem, SoHo, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, Chinatown and the Financial District (Wall Street).

If you decide to visit Manhattan, you can choose between hundreds of different hotels. From luxury- and business class to economy-class with its hotels for the small sum of money. It is up to you.
