The most popular means of transport in New York is the yellow cab. You can hail them everywhere. A cheaper way to get around is the Subway with 26 lines and 468 stations. The lines are signed by a letter or by a number. The Subway can go uptown, downtown, eastside or westside. There are local trains which stop at every station and there are express trains which don’t stop at every station. Another possibility to visit the city is the Bus, which is always signed by a letter and a number. For both means of transport, you can buy a one-way-ticket, a day-ticket, a ticket for a week, a ticket for 2 weeks or a ticket for 1 month. You have to charge the tickets on your Metro card which you can buy at every vending machine. The Path Train is also a subway which connects New Jersey with Manhattan. It consists of 3 lines which are red, yellow and green and which stop at 13 stations. There are also 2 Railways in New York. They are called Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad.
